At EPS Houses, our mission is to breathe new life into distressed properties, turning them into beautiful, valuable homes. We recently acquired a home from sellers who were undergoing a challenging divorce. This acquisition provided them with the much-needed relief from the burdens of owning a property that had not been maintained for over two years. By handling all the complexities of renovation, we ensured a smooth transition for the sellers while preparing the home for a new chapter.

Our approach to distressed properties is both systematic and empathetic. We understand the emotional and financial toll such properties can have on owners, and we strive to offer fair, stress-free solutions. This particular property had an overgrown exterior and cluttered interior, presenting a comprehensive challenge that we were eager to tackle.

Transforming this property began with an extensive cleanup of its neglected exterior. Over the years, the yard had become a mini jungle, requiring the removal of excessive vegetation and debris. We filled three large dumpsters with waste during this process. Additionally, the unexpected discovery of snakes in the “Jumanji backyard” posed a unique challenge, which we managed carefully and safely.

The interior of the house was no less demanding. Years of neglect had resulted in an overwhelming accumulation of junk and unusable items, filling eight dumpsters. Our team meticulously sorted and removed all debris, ensuring the home was completely gutted and ready for renovation. This thorough cleaning laid the groundwork for the transformative process that would follow.

Complete Interior Renovations

Our comprehensive interior renovation strategy involved addressing several key areas to improve both functionality and aesthetics:

Ceiling and Flooring: We repaired numerous ceiling holes caused by a leaking roof and eliminated the outdated popcorn ceilings, replacing them with elegant knockdown textures. We also upgraded all flooring materials, installing modern tiles and plush carpeting throughout for enhanced durability and comfort.
Plumbing and Water Systems: Inspection revealed severely outdated plumbing that required a complete overhaul. Our team installed new plumbing, upgraded the septic system, and introduced a state-of-the-art water purification system. This ensured that the property benefited from reliable and healthy water flow, crucial for any family home.
Kitchen Redesign: Moving away from an outdated galley kitchen to an open, inviting space was essential. We designed an open floor plan complete with stylish Shaker cabinets, luxurious granite countertops, and high-quality stainless steel appliances. This transformation not only improved functionality but added significant aesthetic value.
Bathroom Upgrades: The bathrooms received an extensive makeover with new tiling, modern vanities, efficient toilets, and luxurious tubs and showers. These updates not only increased the home’s market value but also optimized space and utility.
